30 years ago John and Nancy Schapendonk started Nursery ‘t Hooghout and were growing plants whilst working elsewhere. From 2001 we worked full time on the nursery and were joined in 2009 by our son Roy. In 2016 we acquired Hooghoutseweg 12. During 2017 we will develop a new container area there with its own reservoir.
The nursery covers a total area of 5.5 hectares which includes 0.5 hectares of glass. We currently grow over 2 million plants in more than 100 cultivars. Cuttings are taken from our own stock plants and rooted under glass where they are trimmed to form well branched, compact plants. During a 10 week period in Spring all cuttings are potted up and worked on during the Summer to ensure well shaped, strong finished plants. Quality control is vigorously observed for all orders which can be delivered throughout the year. At the height of our Production we employ eight staff.
Our customers are Garden Centres, Nurseries and Landscapers. We export orders as required. We work with customers to meet their requirements and deliver competitively priced plants of a high quality without delay.
